HUANG Yunchao, Professor, Doctor of Medicine, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Physician. He is the director (person in charge) of following organizations : Yunnan Cancer Center, Yunnan Cancer Hospital (The 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, refer to the same entity), postdoctoral research workstation of the 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, International Joint Laboratory for Highly Prevalent Tumors in the Plateau Region, National Key Specialty (Thoracic Surgery) Project, Yunnan Cancer Research Institute, Yunnan Key Laboratory on Lung Cancer, Yunnan Research Collaborative Innovation Center on Lung Cancer, Yunnan International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Base on Lung Cancer Research. He was awarded numerous academic titles, including "Member of Yunnan leading health Experts Database: Hundred-Ten Talents Project", Chief Scientist of Innovation Team on Yunnan Highly Prevalent Lung Cancer Prevention and Research, Chief Scientist of Yunnan Higher Education Innovation Team on thoracic surgery, Member and Chief in Yunnan of Lung Cancer Screening, Early Diagnosis and Treatment Expert Tank of National Health Commission, Yunnan Academic and Technical Leader, Expert enjoying Special Government Allowances from the State Council.
He was the first surgeon in Yunnan and western China that perform heart transplantation, double-sleeved lobectomy and numerous minimally invasive surgery for lung cancer, and first to practice multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment with the focus on lung cancer surgery. The program “Research on Biomaterial Implantation Associated Infection” presided by him provided a theoretical basis for the government to formulate the instruction on rational application of antibiotics. He has been long engaged in lung cancer research, under his administration, Yunnan Integrated Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Lung Nodules and Lung Cancer was established. He formulated the prevention and treatment system for Xuanwei lung cancer, which has been popularized and applied in western China and other region with similar conditions globally, so as to offer China's experience on lung cancer prevention and control to the world, as well as make contribution to the composing of lung cancer guideline consensus. He is the Standing Committee Membership of Lung Cancer Professional Committee of China Anti-Cancer Association, Cancer Multidisciplinary Professional Committee of China Medical Doctor Association, Thoracic Surgeons Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Cancer Prevention and Control Professional Committee of China Preventive Medicine Association. He is the Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of Yunnan Anti-Cancer Association, Chairman of Rehabilitation Sub-association of Yunnan Anti-Cancer Association, Vice-Chairman of Yunnan Medical Doctor Association, Chairman of Multidisciplinary Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Committee of Yunnan Medical Doctor Association, Chairman of Lung Cancer Professional Committee of Yunnan Anti-Cancer Association.
He has presided over 6 programs funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (including 1 key program, 5 general and regional program), 2 national key research and development sub-projects, 1 American NCI major project, 7 provincial key/major projects. His programs won 7 Yunnan Key Science and Technology Progress Award (1 Grand Prize, Program: Construction and application of prevention and treatment system for Xuanwei lung cancer), 1 first prize (Program: research and application of lung cancer and cardiovascular biomaterials against bacterial infection), and five third prizes. He has published more than 110 academic papers as the first or corresponding author (including 44 SCI articles). He has been the supervisor for 110 master students, 27 doctoral students, and 6 postdoctoral fellows. He ranks as chief editor or associate editor for 11 monographs, and chief translator for 2 monographs, and presided over or participated in the compilation of 15 lung cancer guidelines consensus.
