XIA Xueshan,Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, President of Kunming Medical University. Young and Middle-aged Academic and Technical Leader in Yunnan Province, Professional and Technical Talent with Outstanding Contributions, Head of Innovative Team on Epidemiology and Molecular Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases, Molecular Diagnostic Engineering Technology Research Center and Infectious Disease Genetic Testing Engineering Center of Yunnan Province. In 2003, He received Doctorate of Science from Kunming Institute of Zoology of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2006 and 2008, he respectively visited the AIDS Center of The National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan and School of Medicine, University of Utah, USA. From 2003 to September 2022, he served successively as Deputy Director of Science and Technology Division, Dean of Faculty of Life Science and Technology, Vice President of Kunming University of Science and Technology, Vice Chairman of Yunnan Microbiology Society, Vice Chairman of Yunnan Immunology Society and Vice Chairman of Yunnan Biomedical and Health Industry Promotion Association.
He has been engaged in molecular virology research for a long time and carried out research on molecular typing of virus, epidemiological characteristics, evolution and origin of major infectious diseases. He focuses on the establishment of virus cell model andanimal disease model, the study of the pathogenesis of infectious diseases and evaluation of drug efficacy. He also concentrates on developing new technologies and methods for pathogen testing, serving the needs of disease control and clinical treatment and develop new testing products.
He presided over key projects of NSFC-YN Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Project on TCM Prevention and Treatment of Influenza, Major Science and Technology Special Projects of Yunnan Province and the Special Project of Emergency Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19 in Yunnan Province. He has published more than 300 core papers, including 182 SCI papers, 3 monographs. 15 invention patents were authorized. He got 5 provincial and ministerial awards, including the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Yunnan Province and the second prize of Natural Science of Yunnan Province.
