LI Yan, Doctor of Medicine, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Physician. The Department of Ophthalmology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University. She earned a doctorate degree in Medicine from the University of Münster Medical School in Germany. She has been devoted to clinical service, scientific research, and teaching for more than 30 years. She has majored in fundus disease, cataract, and complex ocular trauma. She has provided supervision to 13 Doctoral students and more than 60 students for Master's Degrees. She has 96 publications so far, 32 of which were SCI-indexed. She has presided over three National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, 16 provincial and ministerial level funds projects, and two joint projects.
She was honored with Middle-aged Academic and Technical Leader of Yunnan Province, Leading Talent of Health System, and Kunming Medical University Teaching Master. She received seven provincial-level scientific and technological achievement awards, including the First Prizes of Yunnan Provincial Natural Science Award, Science and Technology Progress Award, Health Science and Technology Achievement Award, and Teaching Achievement Award, as well as the Second Prize of Yunnan Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents Award. She is also the member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Optometry of Clinical Medicine in Higher Education Institution, the member of the Fundus Group of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the science and technology evaluation and assessment expert of the Ministry of Education, thesis reviewer of the Dissertation Center of the Ministry of Education, Director of the Sub-Committee of Teaching Guidance of Optometry in Yunnan, Deputy Director of Yunnan Ophthalmology Society and other social positions. As the Associate Editor and editorial committee member, she participated in the preparation of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology and the five-year textbook Ophthalmology of the Human Health Edition.
She pioneered to launch the Optometry specialty at KMU. She also takes on the teaching of ophthalmology at Kunming Medical University and places priority on the development of talents in the ophthalmology team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University. Currently, there are 23 ophthalmologists on the team, and 90% of them have master's degrees or higher. There are 10 master's supervisors and 3 doctoral supervisors in the team now, and 7 of them are respectively Chairman, Vice Chairman, standing committee members, and other positions of Yunnan Provincial Ophthalmology Society, and members of the National Ophthalmology Branch.
